How to Spark Revival in Your Home: Experiencing God’s Power and Knowing Who You Are in Him

Have you ever witnessed God’s power up close? For me, that defining moment came one day when I felt prompted to pray for a bus driver with an injured shoulder. As I prayed, his shoulder was instantly healed. Watching God work so powerfully through a simple act of obedience showed me that God wants to use us—all of us—to spread His love and introduce others to Him. I realized that revival isn’t limited to church buildings; it can start right where we are, even in our own homes.

What does it look like to ignite that kind of revival at home? It begins with knowing who God is and understanding the incredible power He offers. Then, it involves discovering who we are in Him—each of us uniquely created to share His love and truth. When we step into this calling, we start to see God move in amazing ways in our families and in the lives of those around us. Here’s how you can begin sparking that revival today.

1. Knowing Who God Is and His Power

Scripture reminds us of the boundless power and love of God. Mark 16:16-17 describes how believers “will cast out demons in my name…[and] lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover.” The book of Acts shows us how the Holy Spirit descended, filling the apostles with power, and in one day, over 3,000 people were saved and baptized. These passages show that God's power is real and available to us as believers today, just as it was then.

This power isn’t only something for ancient times or church history; it’s available to each of us. Moments like the one with the bus driver serve as reminders that God wants to work through us. Take encouragement from stories of modern faith leaders like Kathryn Kuhlman and Smith Wigglesworth, who allowed God to use them to bring healing and transformation. When we step out in faith, God meets us in powerful, surprising ways.

Call to Action: Put yourself in environments where you can witness God’s power—worship nights, prayer meetings, and other gatherings where God’s presence is felt. The more you see of Him, the more your faith will grow.

2. Believing and Trusting in What God Has Done and Will Do

Revival starts with believing that God is active and that His miracles are still happening today. Looking back at what He’s done can build our faith for what He’s going to do next. The same God who healed and saved people thousands of years ago still desires to transform lives today.

Practical Tip: Keep a journal of answered prayers, testimonies you hear, and moments where you see God at work. This practice will build your confidence in His goodness and power, strengthening your trust as you step out in faith.

3. Discovering Who You Are in Christ

Finding our identity in Christ is a journey. Along the way, we uncover parts of ourselves that God calls us to let go, as well as qualities He wants to bring forward. As we walk in our God-given identity, we experience a new level of boldness and confidence. We begin to see that, in Christ, we are worthy and have something unique to offer the world.

For me, one breakthrough came when I realized that God could count on me to simply sit with someone, listen intently, and help them feel seen and loved. That experience ignited a desire to do more, to serve God by being fully present for others.

Encouragement: Lean into your God-given strengths and ask Him to reveal how He wants to use you to bless others. Walking in your purpose brings a deeper sense of worth, and God’s Spirit will empower you as you take those first steps.

4. Taking Action: Exercises for Personal and Family Revival

If we want to invite God’s presence into our homes, we can start by incorporating Him into our daily routines. Prayer, worship, and Bible study don’t have to be reserved for Sundays—they can become a rhythm for the whole family. Here are some practical ways to bring revival into your home:

  • Pray with and for your kids. Pray over them before bed, for them throughout the day, and with them whenever possible. Speak blessings and truth over your children, showing them that God is a constant part of their lives.

  • Read the Bible together and memorize scripture. Make Bible stories and verses a regular part of your conversations. This helps children (and adults!) root their identity in God's word.

  • Create an atmosphere for God’s presence. Set aside quiet time each day to be still in God’s presence—whether through prayer, worship, or simply listening. A grateful heart also invites God in, so find ways to share what you’re thankful for together as a family.

Family Activities: Consider setting up “worship nights” at home where you play worship music, or start each day with a quick prayer for each family member. Small, simple acts can make a big difference in shaping the spiritual atmosphere of your home.

5. How to Start Taking Bold Steps of Faith

Faith is something that grows through action. As we listen for God’s voice, practice responding, and take small steps of obedience, we experience Him more deeply. Try this: Ask God a question, listen for His response, and then act on what you hear. It might be as simple as offering a prayer for someone you meet or reaching out to a friend who needs encouragement.

Taking bold steps doesn’t mean doing everything perfectly; it means trusting that God is with you. Stretching our faith opens the door for God to work miracles and allows us to become vessels of His love.

Challenge: Step out of your comfort zone. Trust that God will meet you where you are and work through you, just as He did for believers in the early church. The more you step out, the more He will show up in ways that transform you and those around you.

A Final Invitation

If you’re ready to see God move powerfully in your home and life, I encourage you to take these steps with courage and expectant faith. Revival begins with us—when we seek God, embrace His power, and discover who we are in Him, He transforms us from the inside out. This transformation naturally overflows into our families, sparking a fire for God that impacts everyone around us.

Are you looking for someone to help ignite that spark? When you invite me to speak, you can expect authenticity, vulnerability, and a commitment to stay and interact with the audience. I’ll challenge you to take real steps of faith that create transformation, whether it’s through testimonies, practical exercises, or time spent praying together. Revival isn’t out of reach; God is ready to meet us when we’re willing to step up and invite Him in.
